For batteries, Victoria now relies on the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount. Solar Victoria has stopped taking applications for its battery loans. For solar panels, the state rebate is still open.
Batteries
There is no Victorian battery rebate or loan open to new applicants. The federal discount applies in every Victorian postcode with no income test. Its value depends on your battery's usable capacity and the date the installation is signed off. See your figure with the battery rebate calculator.
Solar panels
Solar Victoria's solar panel rebate is worth up to $1,400, and you can apply for an interest-free loan for a matching amount, repaid over four years. The main conditions:
- Combined household taxable income under $150,000 a year. This cap dropped from $210,000 for applications from 1 July 2026.
- A property valued under $3 million.
- One rebate per address.
- An authorised retailer and eligible products, as listed by Solar Victoria.

Adding panels and a battery together
If you are doing both, ask your installer to show each incentive as a separate line on the quote: the federal battery discount, the federal solar discount, and the Solar Victoria rebate if you qualify.
