BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS

The HVS is a battery only. It needs a high-voltage hybrid inverter from BYD's compatibility list, and that inverter decides the phase, how much power reaches your home and whether backup is available. On the battery side, the datasheet rates the two-module HVS 5.1 at 5.12 kW and the five-module HVS 12.8 at 12.8 kW.

Usable capacity steps up in 2.56 kWh modules from 5.12 kWh to 12.8 kWh per tower, so every single-tower size sits under the 14 kWh point where the federal discount rate drops. Up to three identical towers can run in parallel for 38.4 kWh, and capacity above 14 kWh earns the discount at a lower rate.

The Australian warranty covers 10 years with 70% of usable energy retained, or a throughput limit, whichever comes first. For the HVS 5.1 that limit is 15.41 MWh, which one full cycle a day would reach in a little over eight years. The limit rises with tower size, and the warranty only applies with an inverter on BYD's list.
