BYD Battery-Box Premium HVM

The HVM uses a larger, lower-voltage module than BYD's HVS, with 2.76 kWh per module and 3 to 8 modules per tower. Like the HVS it is a battery only, so a hybrid inverter from BYD's compatibility list sets the phase, the output to your home and whether backup is available. The battery side is rated at 7.68 kW for the HVM 8.3, rising to 20.48 kW for the HVM 22.1.

The HVM 8.3, 11.0 and 13.8 all sit under the 14 kWh point where the federal discount rate drops. The HVM 16.6 and larger go past it, and so do parallel towers, which reach 66.2 kWh with three HVM 22.1 stacks. Capacity above 14 kWh earns the discount at a lower rate.

The Australian warranty covers 10 years with 70% of usable energy retained, or a throughput limit, whichever comes first. The limit scales with tower size, from 25.62 MWh for the HVM 8.3 to 68.31 MWh for the HVM 22.1, which works out to about eight and a half years at one full cycle a day for any size. It only applies with an inverter on BYD's list.
