Inverters

One shady corner of the roof. Do I really need microinverters?

The neighbour's tree shades part of our roof in the morning. One quote says microinverters are essential, the other uses a string inverter and leaves that section empty. Both sound certain. I'm less certain after every phone call.

Have they shown you the panel layouts? Sounds like they're pricing different designs, not just different inverters.

I'd ask for annual output estimates for both layouts, with the tree's shade included. Microinverters don't make the shade disappear. What does the extra spend actually get you at this roof?

You're right, the panel counts aren't even the same. I've been comparing the totals without really looking at the drawings.

Easy to do when you're juggling PDFs. Put the layouts next to each other first. Then ask what you get for the extra spend.
