One quote says 'backup ready'. Does that actually include backup?

Two quotes, very similar panels and battery size. The cheaper one says 'backup ready' and the other lists extra hardware. I just want the fridge and a few lights in a blackout. Are they quoting the same job?

    I wouldn't assume so. Ask the cheaper one: if the power goes out the day after installation, what exactly stays on?

    And ask for the extra cost if the answer is nothing. 'Ready' is doing a lot of work in that sentence.

    Ha, yes. I've emailed that exact question. There isn't a circuit list anywhere in the quote.

    Check switchboard work while you're at it. I'd want both quotes to list the same inclusions before comparing the totals.

    Fridge, lights, internet. Write those down and get them to confirm the actual circuits. Much clearer than asking for 'some backup'.
