EV charging

Car's home two weekdays. Is a solar-aware EV charger worth it?

Car's home two weekdays and most weekends. Is that enough to make a solar-aware charger useful, or am I overthinking it? Mainly want something simple that won't leave me short of charge on Monday morning.

Does the one you're looking at have a solar-only mode AND a normal timed charge? I'd want the option to stop being clever and just charge the car.

Monday morning is the test. Work backwards from how much charge you need, then see what solar can cover.

Exactly. Happy to chase sunshine on Saturday, less happy explaining to work why I can't get there.

Get the sparky to check the install before you buy the charger. The cable run and switchboard might make the choice for you.

Got a home battery as well? Ask which one gets the spare solar first. Two apps trying to be clever could get annoying.
